Vivo Xplay 5 Review: Design and Display
Vivo Xplay 5 is made out of metal with a metal uni-body design. The biggest storage smartphone features a 5.43-inch touch screen with QHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display that is curved on both sides. This is similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge and S7 Edge devices which have double-curved screen as well since 2015. Like most Android smartphones, three capacitive buttons are available below the display, Menu, Home and Back, respectively, the difference is that there are two speaker grills on the bottom of the handset, and in-between them lying the USB port. The fingerprint scanner lays on the back metal cover, along with the 16-megapixels primary camera with dual LED flash. The whole design of Vivo Xplay 5 is really elegant, but it is a pity that Vivo Xplay 5 does not have a Type-C USB port.
Vivo Xplay 5 Review: Hardware and Performance
As already mentioned above, Vivo Xplay 5 is the first smartphone in the world to sport 6GB of RAM on the inside, and 6GB is the biggest RAM ever. This biggest storage smartphone is fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor (Elite Edition), along with an Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. Vivo Xplay 5 has plenty of storage on the inside, providing 128GB of native storage. The performance of Vivo Xplay 5 must be excellent with the latest Qualcomm SoC with biggest 6GB of RAM, there is news reported that this upcoming high end smartphone beats Samsung Galaxy S7, LG G5 and iPhone 6s in AnTuTu benchmarks.
Vivo Xplay 5 Review: Camera
The 16-megapixel primary camera is placed on the back of the device with dual color temperature flashes, using Sony IMX298 camera sensor with a F2.0 aperture and supports PDAF focus. An 8-megapixel shooter can be found up front for selfie.
Vivo Xplay 5 Review: Battery and Quick Charge
The non-removable 3,600mAh battery is placed on the inside of this big storage phone, and Quick Charge technology is also available with double channels for charging, two times faster than common ways.
There is a lower-end variant of this biggest storage smartphone, which is called simply Vivo Xplay 5, without the ‘Elite Edition’ in its name. The lower-end model ships with 4GB of RAM on the inside, and is fueled by the Snapdragon 652 64-bit octa-core processor, which is a mid-range SoC. But the price between two smartphones is a bit different, the Elite edition Vivo Xplay 5 Ultimate is priced at RMB 4288 (USD 655) and the simple version is RMB 3698 (USD 565).
