Bluboo is one of massive Chinese white label phone makers and have manufactured mainly entry-level to mid-range smartphones at affordable price. Today, we will review one cheap 4G smartphone from this manufacturer – Bluboo Xfire and compare it with M5, another same-level 4G smartphone from China OEM and is available for relabeling with your own company or brand logo.

Designed for low-end markets, Bluboo Xfire has a decent design and performance, just like most cheap Chinese smartphones. Gracing the front of the Bluboo XFire is a 5-inch qHD IPS LCD screen of 960 x 540 pixels display resolution, and on the back houses an 8-megapixel OmniVision camera with single LED flash. 1GB of RAM is really small while comparing with high-mid end Android smartphones in the market, but enough for common multi-tasking while combining with a MediaTek MT6735M 64-bit quad-core processor and Mali-T720 MP1 GPU.

Bluboo Xfire Review: Design

As most cheap Android phones, the design of Bluboo Xfire is common and simple. The whole body is made of plastic with a black front cover and changeable colorful back cover. The front shell is with a 5-inch screen and two bars while there is no capacitive button showed in the bottom bar as most Android smartphones do. Based on the simple design style, there are only rear camera and one Led flash on the back cover, no other buttons like fingerprint sensor that now becomes most mid-to-high range smartphones’ standard. The headphone jack and the USB port are in the same side, on the top of Bluboo Xfire, and the volume controls and power button are both on the right side. Really simple design.

Bluboo Xfire Review: Display

Screen quality sometimes decide the price of a phone. With a cheap budget, Bluboo Xfire features a 5-inch screen with IPS technology and 960 x 540 pixels qHD display, a relatively low but most-used screen resolution in most cheap Chinese phones. The 178 degree viewing angles are acceptable and feature some dimming and subtle color change as you rotate Bluboo Xfire, but nothing to really complain about.

Bluboo Xfire Review: Hardware and Memory

Powered by a quad core processor from MediaTek - MT6735M, Bluboo Xfire seems to do a great job for everyday performance and multitasking. MT6735M, a 64bit quad core CPU with 1.0GHz clock speed, is quite enough for Bluboo Xfire for its qHD display. Combining the Mali-T720 GPU with 1GB of RAM, Bluboo Xfire even performed very well in graphics and big games. The built-in internal memory of Bluboo Xfire is 8GB, which can be extended up to 32GB with TF card.

Bluboo Xfire Review: Camera

Bluboo Xfire has dual cameras: both front and back sides have each. The rear main 8-megapixels camera is from OmniVision with flash light and works well for daily photos shooting. The front 5-megapixels camera has an 88-degree wide angle, especially better for selfie.

Bluboo Xfire Review: Connectivity

Blue Xfire is a 4G smartphone but supports most universal connectivity: 4G, 3G, GSM, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, A-GPS, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, etc. And the 4G networks it supports include: bands 1/3/7/20 (800/1800/2100/2600MHz).

From the above table we know that M5 is a 4G smartphone that is in the same range as Bluboo Xfire, and in some aspects is better than Bluboo Xfire. For example, both M5 and Bluboo Xfire use MediaTek MT6735 quad core processor, but M5 has a higher clock speed which means that it will have a more efficient speed to deal with daily tasks and use. And M5 has a wider coverage of 4G networks than Bluboo Xfire, and can be used in Americas.
